IN MEMORIUM

A year has passed since we said goodbye,
With broken hearts and tear-dimmed eye,
And you entered into that land of rest . . .
Our only hope: that God knows best.

A year is long when all its days
We miss you in so many ways;
A home is such a lonely place
Without your step or voice or face.

We who are left still miss you so
With a grief that only God can know;
But He gives us hope midst all the pain:
Someday we know we'll meet again.

Though now we fail to understand
Why you have gone to that better land
And left us here, who need you so,
One thing is sure: that God does know.

And 'til the day that again we meet
And clasp your hand at our Saviour's feet,
We'll rest assured, though we miss you sore,
That God in His heaven needed you more.
