"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming" (I Cor. 15:22-23).
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be...And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be" (Matt. 24:36-39).
"But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas" (Matt. 12:39).
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (I Thess. 4:16-17).
No angels sent, no signs given (except for the sign of Jonas), no judgment passed -- the "rapture" is simply a catching away without warning.
When the "rapture" (catching up) occurs, Jesus comes for His Bride. He doesn't come to the earth but stops in the air. He brings the souls (persons) of dead saints, resurrects their dead bodies, and unites soul and body. Then He changes the bodies of the living saints and catches His saints up (I Thess. 4:13-18; I Cor. 15:52-53). Only believers hear and see Him!
"THE DAY OF THE LORD"
"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night...But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief" (I Thess. 5:2-4).
Why? Remember, no sign is given before the "rapture" (except for the sign of Jonas). However, signs will be given before the "day of the Lord"!
"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory" (Luke 21:25-27).
"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" (II Thess. 1:7-8).
"Behold, the day of the LORD cometh...And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives...and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee" (Zech. 14:1-5).
When the "day of the Lord" occurs, Jesus comes with His saints to the earth (Zech. 14:1-5). "Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds..." (Jude 14-16).
Not one time can I find in God's Word any punishment by the Lord at the "rapture", while not one time can I find that the "day of the Lord" is without punishment. The "day of the Lord" is a dreadful day (Mal. 4:5)!
John the Revelator was caught up into heaven. John was to instruct the churches (Rev. 1:4). John (like Elijah) has not died yet. He was caught up bodily as Elijah was. (More on John and Elijah later if God permits). The word "church" is not mentioned in the Bible after Rev. 3:22. From Rev. 3:22 thru the remainder of the Bible, those raptured are referred to as "saints" except where they are referred to as the "wife" of the Lamb (Rev. 19:7). After the "rapture", those left on earth (both saved and lost) are referred to as "nations" (Matt. 25:31-46). The tribulation and the 1,000-year reign of Christ are to fulfill God's promise to Israel. God promised Israel that Jesus would come with His saints (the raptured church members) to the Mount of Olives, and He shall fight against those nations as when He fought in the day of battle (Zech. 14:3-5). "And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one" (Zech. 14:9). "And he [Jesus] said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me" (Luke 24:44). "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David..." (Luke 1:32-33). When did Jesus sit on David's throne? He has not - yet! "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this" (Isa. 9:7). Jesus has not yet sat upon David's throne, so this will be in the future. God said to David, "And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever" (II Sam. 7:12-13). Jesus has not yet built a house for God's name, but this prophecy absolutely must be fulfilled in the future (Luke 24:44).
GOD'S COVENANT WITH THE EARTH "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease" (Gen. 8:22). GOD'S COVENANT WITH DAVID "Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers" (Jer. 33:20-21). Each morning when we wake up (day) and each evening when we go to bed (night), we know that God's covenant with the earth still exists -- and we know just as surely that God's covenant with David (that His seed will sit upon His throne) is just as sure as God's covenant with the earth. Hallelujah! Can we be sure that Jesus will reign on earth for 1,000 years? Yes! As long as there are day and night, we have the assurance that Jesus will reign on earth.
