According To The Scriptures:

"SONS OF GOD" IN GEN. 6:2:  "ANGELS" OR "MEN"?

"And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose" (Gen. 6:1-2).

Who were these sons of God? Some say they were the fallen angels, but that cannot be true according to the Scriptures. Angels are "all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation" (Heb. 1:11). Angels are spirits, and Jesus said, "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have" (Luke 24:39).

Angels (spirits) cannot be seen by the fleshly eye. God can make His angels visible, but Satan cannot even make himself visible. When he wanted to be seen by Eve, he used the body of a serpent (Gen. 3:1). In order to be seen by the accusers of Jesus, Satan used the body of Judas Iscariot:

"...when he [Jesus] had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop Satan entered into him [Judas]. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly" (John 13:26-27).

The fallen angels were in prison before man was created.

"...Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?" (Isa. 14:16-17).

When did the world become a wilderness?

"I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness..." (Jer. 4:25-26).

This had to happen before the creation of man. At no time since the creation of man has the world been made like a wilderness by Satan. God caused the flood of Noah's day. The fallen angels are "reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day" (Jude 1:6). The fallen angels cannot get out.

Let the Bible speak. Think for your soul's sake. Would those beautiful daughters of men marry angels that had fallen down to hell, that they could not see (remember, angels are spirits), that they cannot feel (angels are not flesh and bone)? The daughters of men would have to go down to prison in Tartarus (hell) because the fallen angels are chained there.

The sin of the fallen angels was that they left their "first estate" (dwelling place) (Jude 1:6), and followed their leader (Satan) as he attempted to take a position "like the most high" (Isa. 14:14). Satan and his angels were cast out.

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him" (Rev. 12:9).

But what does the Bible teach? After killing Abel, "Cain went out from the presence of the LORD..." (Gen. 4:16).

Jesus warned his disciples to "beware of men" (Matt. 10:17), meaning people outside of Christ. Cain and his descendants were the "men" that were fathers of the "daughters of men".

Study these next statements carefully and prayerfully:

"And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD" (Gen. 4:26).

What does God call men who call upon the name of the Lord?
"I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons [God's sons] from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory...yea, I have made him" (Isa. 43:6-7).

Enoch's sons called upon the name of the Lord before the flood of Noah's day (Gen. 4:26). The "daughters of men" were the descendants of Cain, and the "sons of God" were the descendants of Seth.

NOTICE: God is dealing with "man" in Gen. 6:1-7, not "half man" or "half angel".

"All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men one flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds" (I Cor. 15:39).

According to Jesus, angels do not marry:

"But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection" (Luke 20:35-36).

It is so plain in God's Word that the "sons of God" were Seth's descendants who married the "daughters of men" who were Cain's descendants.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers..." (II Cor. 6:14).
