According To The Scriptures:

AMERICA'S WORST ENEMY

This country spends trillions of dollars in other countries to defeat our enemies before they come to America, such as Saddam Hussein, Bin Laudin, etc. At the same time, we close our eyes to our worst enemy. This enemy kills more than war does. It does not have any mercy on children or anyone else. God condemns it.

"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise" (Prov. 20:1).

This enemy is responsible for thousands of deaths each year. Besides taking the lives of innocent victims of those driving under its influence, it starves little children, beats wives, costs millions in tax dollars, destroys families, and is responsible for many divorces. It silences preachers from preaching the whole Word of God.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! (Isa. 5:20-23)

Why don't preachers condemn this worst of all enemies of America? They "justify the wicked for reward..." (Isa. 5:23). One denomination owns two breweries. Most churches have members who work in grocery stores, drug stores, and filling stations where they load and unload trucks that deliver alcoholic beverages. Some put it on shelves. Some check it out at cash registers. Some bag and carry it out to the vehicles to be taken home. All of these jobs are involved in the sale of alcoholic beverages. Then many of these members teach Sunday School, sing in the choir, etc., and their pastors are paid by their salaries earned by the sale of alcoholic beverages. They "justify the wicked for reward". The preachers say nothing in condemnation, but God says:

"Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright [ferments]. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.  They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again" (Prov. 23:29-35).

God also says:

"Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!" (Habakkuk 2:15)

Wars like the one in Iraq only kill the body.

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matt. 10:28).

Alcoholic beverages can cause a person to burn in hell forever!

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God" (Gal. 5:19-21).
God's preachers are to:

"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins" (Isa. 58:1).

Today it seems like we have pacifiers instead of preachers. Drunkards can be saved if they are taught to repent and believe on Jesus. In I Cor. 6:9-10, the Holy Spirit spoke through Paul, giving a list of things that will keep a person out of the kingdom of God. One of those named sins is drunkenness (I Cor. 6:10). Then the Holy Spirit, through Paul, gave us the good news:

"And such were [they were in the past] some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God" (I Cor. 6:11).

We see the effects of alcoholic drinks biblically, nationally, and personally.

Biblically:
"It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted" (Prov. 31:4-5).
Noah drank wine and was uncovered in his tent. He was seen of Ham, his son.
"And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren" (Gen. 9:24-25).
What a shame, after God had blessed Noah, that alcoholic drink could cause him to do such a shameful sin!

Lot, after being spared the judgment of God upon the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, was by some means made to drink wine by his daughters. While drunk, he committed incest and fornication with his daughters which brought about two nations from their illegitimate children which have been a curse to the world.

"And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him...and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father...Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day. And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day" (Gen. 19:30-38).

REMEMBER: "WINE IS A MOCKER, STRONG DRINK IS RAGING: AND WHOSOEVER IS DECEIVED THEREBY IS NOT WISE" (Prov. 20:1).

Only deceived people will use alcoholic beverages!

"Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand" (Dan. 5:1).

Before the party ended, the results were:
"In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain" (Dan. 5:30).
Alcohol destroys kings and kingdoms. I have been told that while Belshazzar was having his drunken party an army was busy diverting the stream that furnished water to the city. The army then went under the wall in the streambed and destroyed them.

REMEMBER: "WINE IS A MOCKER, STRONG DRINK IS RAGING: AND WHOSOEVER IS DECEIVED THEREBY IS NOT WISE" (Prov. 20:1).

Watch out, America!

Nationally:

I watched in awe as one of the groups of leaders of this great nation, that God has blessed so wonderfully, prepared to have a party and, even though they didn't drink while on the TV screen, they had the glasses in their hands and were prepared to drink. They should have been praying and asking God for guidance.

Personally:

In my late teens, when World War II was in progress, I volunteered for service in the Navy. The effects of alcohol in the Navy were almost unbelievable. The ship I was on went through three invasions (Leyte, Luzon, and Okinawa), one typhoon, and only God knows how many air attacks without one person being injured and no damage to the ship by the enemy. But there is a grave in Hollandia, New Guinea, where lies one of the finest, cleanest-living young sailors that ever lived. He didn't smoke, drink, curse, or run around with the wrong crowd -- but alcohol did what the Japs couldn't do. He was killed by another sailor (a shipmate) who was drunk. He died in his teens in a makeshift hospital in Hollandia, New Guinea, begging for his mother.

REMEMBER: "WINE IS A MOCKER, STRONG DRINK IS RAGING: AND WHOSOEVER IS DECEIVED THEREBY IS NOT WISE" (Prov. 20:1).

Closer home:
"Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?...Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!" (Hab. 2:12-15).
This city has its blood-stained streets and highways. Go west on Highway 92 where a young girl and her mother were hit, run over, and the young girl killed by a drunk driver. Go southwest and see the cross that marks the spot where one of the best of the best was killed by a drunk driver. She was this city's beauty queen. She was not only beautiful on the outside, she was just as beautiful on the inside. She was killed while coming home from church services. The two accidents happened soon after the City Council (all church members) voted to allow alcohol sold near the park and schools.
"Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood..." (Hab. 2:12).

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (II Chron. 7:14).
Please pastors, lead the churches to take a stand for God and right. Legalized alcohol is the worst enemy this nation has ever faced. Stand up and let's fight against alcohol!

Readers:  Repent and believe in Jesus! The Holy Spirit will cleanse you. Then you will not be partaking of America's worst enemy. You'll be rejoicing as a child of God!
