BIBLE CHARTS

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.
II Tim. 2:15
FOR THE
NEW CONVERT
For the beginner in Bible study, it is difficult to know where to begin. An example of this is the Ethiopian eunuch who was reading the Book of Isaiah. Philip approached him and asked, "Understandest thou what thou readest?" The confused eunuch replied, "How can I except some man guide me?" (Acts 8:26-39) Indeed, it is impossible for the unbeliever to fully understand God's Word, I Cor. 2:14:
"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
When a newborn child of God delves into the Scriptures (perhaps for the first time), he should not be dismayed at the magnitude of God's Word. Unlike the unbeliever, the believer has the promise of Jesus that the ". . . Spirit . . . will guide you into all truth." (John 16:13)
In this study, the intention is to establish truths for future studies of particular subjects; therefore, no attempt is made to exhaust Scriptural references in proving each truth. However, each truth that is established will bear the scrutiny of an in-depth study, and the reader is urged to follow the example of the Bereans who "received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." (Acts 17:11)
A WORD OF WARNING:
- A geographical map of some part of a sea, river, etc., for the guidance of mariners.
- A particular map designed for the use of navigators, showing the position of shallows, channels, rocks, etc.
It is with these definitions of a chart in mind that this is written, using the means of charts for clarity and emphasis -- with a prayer that the "charting" of the Scriptures on various Biblical doctrines will enable the new convert to stay in the "channel of truth" while "navigating" the Scriptures, avoiding the "rocks" and "shallows" of error of those who would pervert the gospel of Christ.
