REVELATION 5

CONDITIONS ON EARTH COME INTO VIEW
1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals [the seven seals will be explained when we begin Revelation Chapter 6].
2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon (Rev. 5:1-3).
The one on the throne in John's vision would have to be God the Father. The book in his hand, I believe, is the title deed to the earth. The earth is the Lord's: "Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD'S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is" (Deut. 10:14).
At present, the devil is the God of this world (II Cor. 4:4).
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon (Rev. 5:4).
When John thought of such great men of God as Abel, Moses, the prophets, and the disciples of Christ, and yet no man was worthy to open the book or look thereon, no wonder he wept!
To enjoy this chapter immensely, outline the rest of the chapter this way:
THE LION: JESUS
5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof (Rev. 5:5).
THE LAMB: JESUS
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth (Rev. 5:6).
THE BOOK
7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints (Rev. 5:7-8).
THE BLOOD
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation (Rev. 5:9);
THE POSITION OF GOD'S PEOPLE
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth (Rev. 5:10).
Jesus shed His blood for all men and would have all men to be saved (I Tim. 2:4). It is sad that so many will refuse to accept that wonderful gift of the blood of Jesus and, as a result, die lost. I'm looking forward to reigning with Jesus on earth.
THE PROPHECY OF PSALM 150:6:
FULFILLED REV. 5:13
"Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD" (Psalm 150:6).
11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever (Rev. 5:11-14).
If there are those of you who have read these verses and have not trusted Jesus to save you, please ask Him to save you today!
"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God..." (I John 5:1).
Please trust Jesus! You do not want to go into the great tribulation described by Jesus in Matt. 24:21-22:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
